  • ATA Specialist Council.
  • Consult with CMASTE.
  • ERLC advisory committee consultation.
  • Consultation with key Alberta Education Lead Managers and Directors a minimum of twice during the year.

Practice/Goals

Identify Possible Strategies

  • Dan Leskiw – High School Science assessment approaches www.erlc.ca – under Science theme
  • Hays Lantz has agreed to come in May or June next year
  • Gizmos – Include Interactive online tools to share in your program.
  • Online communities of practice – via vc or other online tools for biology, physics and chemistry focus.
  • Art Bauer (and Frank Jenkins) will offer a session about the oil sands that align with changes in the organic chemistry unit.  The session will be offered after school via vc sites in the region.
  • Explore CMASTE after school study group sessions, with programs that are posted early and available to access via vc.
  • Find someone to identify all of the pd sessions available for high school science teachers – post links to other sessions on ERLC site and plan ERLC sessions at times that coordinate dates.  (e.g., ATA Science Conference).
  • Plan a session with learner assessment about changes to the diploma exam.
  • Explore offering sessions with teachers that model using DL (emerging technologies) in their classrooms.
  • Work with the ATA science regional and the pd resources they wish to develop based on may 2008 regional.  This resource would support implementation of the new program of studies based on the content shared at the session.  Hire a contractor to offer the session.
