Dr. Dave Carter has been an educator for more than 40 years, having worked as a grade 6 and 7 teacher, Learning Assistance Teacher (K-7), a school psychologist for grades K – 12, and a Director of Instruction for Student Services in both the Central Okanagan and Surrey, B. C. school districts. Dave “semi-retired” in 2005 but has been active in other ways. He has taught graduate courses for SFU, TWU, UBC and others and supervised both Masters and Doctoral student research. He has acted as an “expert witness” in several B.C. Supreme Court cases involving special education. He has done volunteer work overseas in both Nigeria and Haiti and was among the early responders after the Haiti earthquake.
He and his wife Sharon have four children, all (very grown-up) and three granddaughters.
Prior to COVID he and Sharon travelled extensively, enjoy sailing and walking their Boxer dog “Cuba”.
