Mental Health Literacy need to be the foundation for any support in a classroom, school or school system.

Educators report that even though they consiser mental health to be very important to their students' well-being, many do not feel they have the knowledge to support them.  The lack of knowledge and necessary care, along with the existence of stigma, serve to exacerbate a negative situation for those with mental health disorders.  Mental Health Literacy encompasses the knowledge, beliefs and abilities that enable the recognition, management or prevention of mental health problems with a range of benefits including early recognition and intervention, and reduction of stigma associated with mental illness.

Come and build a common language with your peers and consider how to support your students and colleagues to be able to be more comfortable speaking about mental health.

All learning opportunities with the ERLC regional team will focus on the Alberta Education and district priority areas.
