They say, “you’re so patient!”...but really you know it means that you have a good understanding of the students in front of you! 

Once a student has a diagnosis of a learning disability or other learning challenge, what does it mean for them and what does it mean in your classroom? What reading models can work? This series will increase your understanding of learning challenges that students before you may have, what are the research-based instructional strategies that you can use, and how do you implement them in your busy classroom! This is a “work smarter, not harder” series of fortunate events that are meant to build capacity in YOU for your STUDENTS!

Day One:

  • Reflect on personal understandings and beliefs about teaching students with learning challenges
  • Deepen your understanding of a learning disabilities

Day Two:

  • Understanding a PsychoEducational Assessment
  • Explore how assessment drives instruction
  • Build understanding of executive function

Day Three: 

  • Grouping for Learning in the Inclusive Classroom
  • Look at your classroom: Environment and Timetabling
  • Explore strategies related to instructional planning, and resource selection (e.g., Structured Literacy)

Day Four

  • Planning and Sharing - Year Plan, Monthly Plans, Resources, Assessments
  • Reflect on personal understandings and beliefs about teaching students with learning challenges
