Training Session 1 (Atelier 1) - IDÉLLO & the CEFR - How to incorporate the CEFR in teaching and learning in a second language. Why that link is critical to improving learner confidence and proficiency. How do the resources in IDÉLLO help us redesign pedagogy and support the big ideas from the CEFR while being aligned with the FSL curriculum.

  • CEFR “Big Ideas”: growth mindset and levels of proficiency, differentiated instruction and learning, 6 
    core learning skills.

Training Session 2 (Atelier 2) - Deep learning in oral comprehension. How to strategically develop confidence in our learners when confronted with oral documents. Strategies to build confidence and competence.

Training Session 3 (Atelier 3) - Creating authentic task in an Action-Oriented Approach, using the resources from IDÉLLO as the trigger prior to the tasks.

  • Creating authentic scenarios and tasks
  • Modelization and examples of tasks created from the following folders found on IDÉLLO:
    • Démocratie Canadienne - Dans les pays démocratiques, quels sont nos droits et limites 
      secondaires?
    • C’est quoi la Démocratie?
    • Pourquoi la liberté de la presse n’existe pas dans certains pays?
    • Compréhension et Réflexion: Questions sur la vidéo C’est Quoi la démocratie? De la série 1 Jour

  • Creating Authentic Tasks
    • 7 criterias from the Action-Oriented Approach Handbook
      • Learners are “social agents” in an authentic context
      • Action is purposeful with real-world application
      • There is a clearly communicated goal to be accomplished that results in a product or outcome
      • Learning is supported by authentic, real-life texts and experiences
      • There are conditions and constraints (e.g., that promotes critical and creative thinking)
