After 18 years in the classroom, Michelle De Abreu spent 15 years as a second language consultant with Edmonton Public Schools where she provided support to teachers and administrators at the local, provincial, national and international levels.
In her career, Michelle has been a lead project manager/author of many resources for ERLC, Alberta Education, the Second Languages and Intercultural Council (SLIC) of the Alberta Teachers’ Association and the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT). Her work in the field of language education is well-recognized: Michelle is the recipient of provincial and national awards from SLIC, the Fédération des parents francophones de l’Alberta, and CASLT.
Michelle’s workshops are characterized by their practical nature and playful ‘you can do it’ tone. She is most often asked to work in the areas of effective second language classroom instructional and assessment practices, improving teacher language proficiency, curriculum design, leadership and programming, and resource writing. Through her new consulting business, B-Lingual Consulting, Michelle continues to provide professional service and consultation to second language educators and organizations.
