Sound assessment for and of learning, whether teaching students in-person or online, requires intentional decisions that promote quality responses. It is our mandate to collect information that reflects strong evidence of learning.
It is also necessary to provide the best possible learning experiences for students under any conditions or circumstances. To do so, documentation of student progress needs to also be accurate, current, and valid. In this session, participants will explore:
- what is critical to assess in reading and writing outcomes
- how to create summative assessments that are purposely designed to promote critical thinking and depth of response
- activating student metacognition for learning
