AllThe workshop model in secondary classroom is based on the ideas of student choice, differentiation of writing instruction, authentic writing experiences, gradual release of responsibility and opportunities for feedback to improve student work. The Writers’ Workshop model creates a community of writers who are empowered to make intentional decisions about their own writing. In this session, learn about how you can implement a Workshop model for teaching narrative writing. Participants will gain access to adaptable resources for narrative writing mini-lessons. The benefits of using a Workshop model to teach writing positions students to make connections between writer’s craft and reading comprehension, and to view themselves as resilient writers who engage in all stages of the writing process.
