Whether you are a new or experienced French as a second language teacher, this crash course can help you get on track to feel more confident and comfortable in your FSL assignment.

Day 1: Through concrete, hands-on activities, participants will:

  • More deeply understand the purpose and intent of the Alberta 9 year FSL Program of studies
  • Learn how to engage students by shifting more emphasis to what students can do in French and less on what they know
  • Understand how to teach vocabulary and grammar curricular outcomes in context
  • Examine how to plan lessons, assessments, chunks of learning and year plans that focus on authentic, functional use of French
  • Discover a range of resources to support your and your students’ learning

Day 2: Participants will engage in guided, collaborative planning

*Note: To participate in Day 2 planning, participants should have attended any Day 1 FSL Crash Course.

No matter your level of proficiency or experience, leave feeling better prepared to engage in a rich year of learning with your students. Allons-y!

This session will be offered in English with some activities and tools featured in French.
