Rod Snaterse is an Educator for Alberta Health Services in the department of Children, Youth Families Addiction & Mental Health. In this role, he provides both professional development and caregiver education sessions with the aim to increase awareness and understanding of mental health challenges that can impact children, youth and families. During his 22 years as a public school educator with Black Gold Regional Schools and Edmonton Public Schools, Rod taught students in elementary, junior and senior high with a focus on educating adolescents. Rod has developed and led teacher professional development, instructed in university teacher education programs, consulted, and taught masters level graduate students. He holds a Bachelor of Education, a masters and doctorate in theology, and a Master of Education with a specialization in adult and community education. Rod is here to share his knowledge and experience with the intention of promoting positive mental health in children, adolescents, and families.
Cayley McConaghy (she/ her) is a Certified Canadian Counsellor and a Creative Arts Therapist. She has worked in schools both in Montreal and in the Edmonton area, and has experience working with adult and adolescent in-patients at a mental health facility. Through her array of experience Cayley has found a passion for Mental Health education, feeling that one of the best ways to be proactive is to be informed. Not only is she an Educator with Alberta Health Services but she is also one of the Coordinators of the Parent and Youth Advisory Committees for Addictions and Mental Health, aiming to embed patient voices and opinions into all levels of care. In her free time Cayley teaches improv and musical theatre, reads thrillers by the dozen, and travels as often as possible.
