Do you believe your students are fearful of or frustrated by math? Then it’s time for a new approach. “When you teach concepts rather than rote processes, you help students discover their own natural mathematical abilities.

This book is a road map to retooling how you teach math in a deep, clear, and meaningful way to help students achieve higher-order thinking skills. Jennifer Wathall shows you how to plan units, engage students, assess understanding, incorporate technology, and there’s even a companion website with additional resources.” The 4 main areas of reflection will be

  1. What are the very important areas that points that stand out to you?
  2. What connections can you make between the ideas in the book  and your own practice, life or experiences?
  3. How can you apply the ideas to your own classrooms?
  4. What questions did you ask yourself as you were reading?”

This 3 part series book study will be an online facilitated conversation, via ZOOM (our video conferencing platform)  All meetings will be recorded and posted in our google classroom for people to view at their convenience.
