During this full day  presentation, Dr. DeConde Johnson will review the basic components of EI (early intervention) as outlined  in the Joint Committee on Infant Hearing, looking at the some preferred practices and data on what parents have identify as their needs. Using the present Alberta context the day will include discussion around family centered early intervention, how to support the family decisions and promoting practices towards positive outcomes. Participants will be asked to examine their role and the role of others within the intervention pathway. Additionally Dr. DeConde Johnson will speak to early childhood development, audiological considerations, curricular suggestions and benchmark assessments that might trigger referrals to other professionals (outside of DHH). Resources will be referenced.
