Grade Levels
K-3, 4-6, 7-9Reading is a foundational skill that all students need to be successful in schools. As students get older, the texts used in all subject areas become increasingly complex and those who lack literacy skills tend to experience more academic difficulties. This session is intended to be a proactive way for parents to learn about how to support their child(ren) at home by reinforcing literacy skills that help build strategic readers. Topics include how to establish an effective at-home reading program, use technology to support literacy, and learning about community supports available. EPL will highlight its literacy programs such as Reading Buddies, Reading Circles and Young Reader's’ Choice Award.
