Learning Opportunities

Increasingly, research and current practice in the field of literacy for students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities indicate that significant and meaningful literacy gains are possible through the use of a comprehensive approach to instruction.

This interactive learning opportunity will provide information and practical strategies to address the literacy learning and communication needs of students with significant cognitive disabilities. The emphasis will be on instructional planning and approaches that support emergent and early conventional literacy in reading, including explicit strategy instruction for shared reading and guided reading.
