Educating teens on healthy intimate relationships is an essential part of a school-wide approach for building and promoting safety in all relationships. At the end of this one-day training, participants will be certified to implement the Red Cross Healthy Youth Relationships program. Through hands-on activities and engaging discussion, participants will explore the aspects of both healthy (communication, power, empathy, conflict resolution, and intervention) and unhealthy relationships (emotional, physical and sexual violence). Additionally, we will tackle some of those “tough” topics around technology use and consent, harassment, and gender identity and sexual orientation.

Classroom-ready resources that are based on the latest research will be shared, including a USB drive with PowerPoints, videos, printable handouts and grade-specific lesson plans with interactive activities. This session will also talk about how you can mentor and coach youth to co-facilitate delivery with you. Content aligns with Alberta Education Curriculum in Health and Life Skills or CALM.
