Lana Lane is an Independent Literacy Consultant. She has been a classroom teacher of Pre K-Gr. 2, an Instructional Literacy Coach K-12 and subs K-9 to keep her work current with students. She has taught in B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan. She currently contracts with the Alberta Learning Network and is a facilitator of the Reading Readiness Screening Tool for the LDAA (Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta). Lana has spent numerous years studying the five essential elements of effective reading instruction: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension. Somehow Literacy always finds her, and she enjoys sharing this passion with others.

AllWords Their Way (WTW) is a K-12 developmental spelling, phonics and vocabulary program designed to be implemented as a balanced approach to reading, writing, fluency and comprehension. In this ADVANCED workshop, you will review the 5 stages of spelling development and take a closer look at samples of student's work from each spelling level. You will learn how to use the Spelling Inventories and student written work to determine an appropriate instructional level for word work. The how of grouping students for differentiated instruction and numerous ways of organizing Words Their Way into daily practice will be discussed.
