Guided reading is the heart of reading instruction in primary classrooms. It is a key strategy in meeting the needs of all students and ensuring their growth as learners.

This session will focus on the basics of small group reading instruction and on planning effective guided reading lessons. Topics will include an exploration of how these instructional practices work in unison with other essential strategies: moving students from support to independence. Classroom organization and management structures including utilizing readers’ workshop will also be discussed.
