The Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium (ERLC) has created multiple opportunities for you to visit schools during the 2017-2018 school year in Edmonton and surrounding areas who are transitioning their school library to a Learning Commons.

The motto of our Makerspace at Monsignor Fee Otterson is Every Space can be a Makerspace! Our journey has evolved from a Makerspace classroom where students and teachers build, design, create; to one that is now in the classrooms of the school.

Participants visiting the site will experience the following:

  • Our Hallway Makerspace.
  • How a simple cart can be used to create a Makerspace in classrooms.
  • Students building and demonstrating their knowledge and understanding using a variety of devices and materials.
  • Using the Design thinking process to solve authentic problems.
  • Incorporating building into the learning process in a variety of subject areas.
  • High and low technology.
  • Opportunity to talk to the Makerspace teacher and other staff in the school.
