James Aitchison joined the IBM K-12 Education Canadian team as a Senior Educational Consultant in 2016, bringing expertise in leadership, technology and education after 32 years in Alberta public education as a K-College teacher, Director of Learning Technology for 3 districts and a consultant to Alberta Education. James was recently awarded the Bob Allison Memorial Award from Microsoft Canada that celebrates exceptional work in educational technology on a national level. He was also awarded the Alberta Technology Leaders in Education Pillar Award for his efforts related to education, leadership and technology across systems. James holds a Masters of Education in Leadership and Technology.
As a Senior Educational Consultant with IBM, James works nationally, with school districts to:
- Develop Strategic Technology Enabled Learning Plans that enable and support the effective use of technology in the classroom.
- Identify the current educational challenges facing school districts and how technology can help support these challenges
- Create customized Professional Development solutions to meet the needs of districts, to ensure successful technology implementation and integration.
- Conduct IT Organizational Effectiveness, Alignment and Governance reviews which assess the effectiveness of existing IT organizational structures with the goal of optimally aligning future structures with district strategic goals and long term plans.
Jonathan Bibby is an IBM K-12 Executive Education Consultant with extensive experience in leadership and operations of all aspects of a School District. Prior to becoming a consultant with IBM, Jonathan held a number of school-based and senior executive positions in Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board (PVNCCDSB). As a Superintendent, Jonathan was responsible for the leadership of K-12 program for all schools and Board Improvement Planning. Jonathan also held a number of Principal, Vice Principal, and teaching positions for 20 years prior to assuming the executive positions listed above. He was the principal of three elementary schools, and was the charter principal for the opening of a new elementary school in Bowmanville, Ontario in 2007.
As a member of IBM K-12’s education division, he works with senior executive teams and stakeholders in school systems, facilitating executive sessions as well as collaborating with and presenting to all levels of stakeholders. He has supported districts in moving their strategic plans forward into action, and is viewed as a trusted advisor and mentor to senior leaders in the school divisions he supports.
Jonathan holds a Master of Education from Concordia University, USA, a Master of Arts from the University of Cambridge, England, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Arts from University of Cambridge, England.
