This workshop will outline a comprehensive approach to literacy instruction that can be used with all early conventional readers and writers to actively intervene and move their reading and writing skills forward.  Based on the Four Blocks of literacy instruction, we will cover comprehension, working with words, self-selected reading and writing instruction. Adaptations that may need to be made for students with a range of abilities and disabilities will be outlined. Multi-level activities that can be implemented with all students in the classroom will also be discussed and supported with video examples. Recent research around whole school model literacy programs for students who struggle with reading and writing will also be covered.  All students, regardless of their abilities, deserve an opportunity to develop their literacy skills to their maximum potential - and this presentation will demonstrate how you can help to make that happen!

Target Audience

Teachers of students with significant cognitive disabilities, Instructional/Learning Coaches, Teacher Assistants, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, past participants of Literacy for All Communities of Practice
