Are you interested in designing instruction and assessment that would allow you to reach ALL of your learners?

With the diversity that we see in our classrooms, it can be daunting to satisfy the goals of all of our students and to fulfill their own personal learning needs. Through one teacher’s experience, you will see what inclusion can look like at the junior high and high school level, learning about differentiated instruction and assessment in both academic and interdisciplinary courses using Jennifer Katz’ Three Block Model.

Day One: Teaching to Diversity - The principles behind the Three Block Model will be addressed, and examples of their implementation will be offered. We will discuss strategies and approaches that can be used to increase student engagement and achievement at all levels, as well as assessment approaches that support an inclusive classroom.

Day Two: Planning Structures - The planning process will be modeled and time given for participants to build a unit of study following the Three Block Model/UDL framework, with support of the facilitator. Please bring a laptop as well as your Programs of Study and any other resources that will support your work.
