AllThis interactive session is designed to increase awareness of Indigenous texts, both fiction and nonfiction, that support our curriculums and build teacher confidence in using these texts meaningfully in classrooms.
You will be familiarized with Indigenous themes and pedagogies that can be identified in texts and used to shape learning tasks. To top off the learning, you will explore literacy strategies that pair well with Indigenous texts in order to enrich comprehension, discussions and critical reflection.
Texts from across the grades and content areas will be highlighted and you will be provided with annotated K-12 booklists as well as additional resources.
