Together we will spend dedicated time in dialogue and practice with session participants, to learn about a Reggio-inspired approach to Early Learning. Learn from local experts and each other on how to teach the Alberta Programs of Study through Reggio-inspired philosophy.

Topics of study may include: Emerging Curriculum, Assessment, Documentation, Learning Environment

Part 1 (November): Learning Environment walkthrough and debrief. How do I teach the Alberta Programs of Study within an emerging curriculum? This session would involve an invitation for you to bring imperfect artifacts, exemplars or a challenge you have in the area of assessment and documentation for the next session. There should be an emphasis on bringing in something that needs a critical eye to improve it.

Part 2 (January): Learning Environment walkthrough and debrief. You will share your documentation of examples with emerging curriculum. You will explore planning based on the interests of the child to create rich learning experiences. We will also discuss the balance of planning lessons and allow for emerging curriculum which honours curriculum expectations. There will also be an opportunity to share different ways to document learning.

Part 3 (February): Learning Environment walkthrough and debrief. You will share promising practices of documentation, assessment, and reporting. Small table groups will share successes and challenges related to these three areas of focus.
