Sandra Gluth is an educator with many years of experience working with students with diverse learning needs. Prior to joining Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium, Sandra was on secondment to Alberta Education as a Curriculum Manager in Inclusive Education. Sandra also worked as a learning technologies consultant with Edmonton Public Schools where she was able to combine her passion for teaching and learning with using technologies to support literacy learning and the success of all students, including those with diverse learning needs.

AllThis interactive learning opportunity will provide information and practical strategies to address the literacy learning and communication needs of students with significant cognitive disabilities.
In the morning, the emphasis will be on building understanding and skills to support emergent and early conventional writers, including the steps of predictable chart writing, ideas to support students with independent writing, and the importance of alternative pencils.
In the afternoon, the emphasis will be on building understanding and skills to support emergent and early conventional readers, including explicit strategy instruction for shared and guided reading.
