Etienna Moostoos-Lafferty is a Cree educator from the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation and grew up in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Etienna graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education degree in 2009. Etienna has taught both on and off-reserve, in public and in Catholic school districts in Calgary and the Edmonton area. Learning from her grandmother's residential school experience has instilled in her a passion for Indigenous education. Etienna has continued to work towards the advancement of Alberta’s Indigenous youth and most recently enjoys working in teacher education. Her strong desire to advance school communities in the appreciation and application of Indigenous knowledge in schools has become Etienna’s most recent journey.
