AllThere are a number of great tools we can use in the classroom to develop students’ number sense and additive thinking. We will unpack numbers, looking at children’s misconceptions and hurdles, and introducing games, investigations, Ten-Frames, Rekenrek, Dot cards and instructional approaches that build children’s foundational understandings in numeracy.
During this session, we will explore a variety of ways for teachers to introduce and use these tools effectively in the classroom. We will work through what kids need to know about number in order to work with it fluently and easily. You will walk away with resources and strategies you can use in your classroom right away.
