Sandra Gluth is an educator with many years of experience working with students with diverse learning needs. Prior to joining Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium, Sandra was on secondment to Alberta Education as a Curriculum Manager in Inclusive Education. Sandra also worked as a learning technologies consultant with Edmonton Public Schools where she was able to combine her passion for teaching and learning with using technologies to support literacy learning and the success of all students, including those with diverse learning needs.

AllIncreasingly, research and current practice in the field of literacy for students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities indicates that significant and meaningful literacy gains are possible through the use of a comprehensive approach to instruction.
This interactive learning opportunity will provide information and practical strategies to address the literacy learning and communication needs of students with significant cognitive disabilities. The emphasis will be on instructional planning and approaches that support emergent and early conventional literacy in reading, including explicit strategy instruction for shared reading and guided reading.
