Jennifer B. Ganz, Ph.D., is a Professor of Special Education at Texas A&M University. She received her doctorate at the University of Kansas, with a concentration in autism spectrum disorders and behavioral disorders and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst® - Doctoral level. For over two decades, Dr. Ganz has worked as a general and special education teacher and an educational consultant and continues to consult and present for schools and parents on topics relating to autism spectrum disorders. She has been a speaker at regional, national, and international conferences on topics including interventions for developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders, particularly on strategies to address social and communication skills. Dr. Ganz prepares Master’s and doctoral level students who want to improve their clinical skills and become researchers and academics. She has authored or co-authored numerous articles, books, and chapters, including Aided Augmentative and Alternative Communication for People with ASD.

AllHow we can use naturalistic aided AAC instruction and parent and peer-mediated interventions to support communication and language development for children and youth with Austism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who also have complex communication needs. Potential topics of discussion include the necessity of involvement of family members in AAC intervention, a focus on functional language in natural contexts, and using multiple modes of communication in developing communication in this population.
Target Audience
Teachers, SLPs, Para-educators and teams who serve children and youth with ASD and complex communication needs. Additional team members including OTs, Administrators, Assistive Technology Staff and Parents of students who have ASD are encouraged to attend.
