This learning opportunity provides all course participants with the fundamental understanding and skills necessary for the effective delivery of Tacpac. We welcome people who have already been using Tacpac, as well as those who are just beginning. We look at both the ‘why’s’ and ‘how’s’ of the body of knowledge of sensory communication, combining theory and practice into a fun, interactive and stimulating day of training.

Course content:

  • Our sensory system and the role of touch
  • Understanding the importance of the basic beat
  • Experiencing the different touches and music within the activities, using the different objects
  • Use of thematic material
  • How the limbic system affects our senses
  • The central role of music in Tacpac
  • Sensory communication
  • Sensory overload

By the end of the day you will be able to:

  • Understand the theory behind Tacpac
  • Learn to internalise and effectively deliver the Tacpac activities
  • Experience ‘sensory overload’ for yourself
  • Heighten awareness of your own senses (we have more than 5)
  • Discover how to work effectively with touch
  • Build skills in multi-sensory interaction (touch–sight–movement–sound – communication)
  • Synchronise your sense of touch with your sense of music
  • Meet other professionals in the field, parents, and carers
  • Receive a Tacpac Certificate in Sensory Alignment.

In order to put what you learn on the Training into practice, you need to have access to at least one Tacpac Set. Please go to: www.tacpac.com or email at training@tacpac.co.uk to find out how to get your Set/s.

What is contained in a Tacpac Set?

There are 6 Sets, each containing:

The Music: Each Tacpac Set has 6 tracks of originally composed music.

The Instruction Sheet: Available to download and print, describing the activity and object you will be using with each one of the 6 tracks of music included in each Tacpac Set. We recommend you download, print and laminate this instruction sheet as you will be using it throughout your sessions.

The Demonstration Videos: Shows how to use each one of the objects with the music, which is different for each track.

What is not included: You will need to source the different household objects, like sponges, or fabric yourself. These all have different textures which you will be using for each different activity and track of music.

For further information on how to get your Sets, please go to: www.tacpac.com
