Grade One teachers rate executive function as one of the most important indicators of a child’s potential to become an effective student in a school setting. Executive functions refers to those brain functions that regulate, control and manage other brain processes such as planning, organizing and deciding what to pay attention to. Executive functions can be developed through fun, playful activities in a classroom setting.

This session will review what executive functions are, how these skills typically develop, and what educators and caregivers can do to support a positive developmental trajectory. You will participate in games and activities to support executive functions in the classroom.

Target Audience
