AllThe Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium (ERLC) has created multiple opportunities for you to visit schools during the 2016-2017 school year in Edmonton and surrounding areas who are transitioning their school library to a Learning Commons.
The collaboration centre at the Prescott Learning Centre is an example of a learning commons which demonstrates staff perception of what a commons should be. We will hear how, over the past 3 years, the presenter has redesigned 4 traditional library spaces into areas which reflect the individual school cultures of their buildings. Each one has been dramatically different, because the school communities have been varied. You will hear how each library/commons transition demonstrated the differing needs of each community and the way in which it has translated into a brand new space in a new school.
There will be time for questions with school staff, opportunities to network with others and time to begin planning for the transformation of your school library to reflect a Learning Commons philosophy to support and enrich student learning.
