Tim Coates regards all his education experiences (student, teacher, administrator, assessment specialist, university lecturer) as important in developing his perspectives on education. As such, Tim has been his perspectives on education since 1963, the year he entered grade one.
Tim taught for a number of years before being seconded to Alberta Education in 1994. At Alberta Education, Tim served as a Diploma Examination Manager, first for Social Studies 33 and later for Social Studies 30. He also worked in the curriculum branch for several years helping develop the most recent social studies program for high school.
Tim is as a sessional lecturer at the University of Alberta, teaching a course in classroom assessment for students in their IPT round. Tim is also an education consultant providing sessions and workshops on a variety of assessment-related topics.
