Siobhan Murphy is on secondment at the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium, working primarily in the area of literacy. Her past teaching experience includes teaching at the elementary and junior high levels. Siobhan completed her Master's degree in education at the University of Alberta focusing her research project on assessment for learning best practices, in particular how rubrics can improve student writing.

Guided reading and strategy groups offer you a way to meet diverse learning needs through small group instruction and engage all students.
This session will cover the basics of small group instruction including organizing, managing and implementing effective and focused guided reading and strategy group lessons. Some time will also be spent looking at how to use data to help group students and plan for instruction.
