Bonnie Edgecombe has worked with Elk Island Public Schools for 36 years as an elementary teacher, AISI lead teacher in Mathematics, and Supervisor of Elementary Mathematics. She has always had a passion for helping students understand mathematics. Over the years she has presented sessions for teachers on effective mathematics practices and has worked with Alberta Education on various projects.

All- Are you interested in developing a math program that guides students to learn and practice what effective mathematicians do and meets the outcomes of the Alberta Mathematics Programs of Study?
- Do you wish to empower your students to develop a deeper understanding of number sense, equality and mathematical thinking?
- Do you want your students to understand and use appropriate computational strategies and be fluent with their number facts?
- Do you want your students to gain confidence and competence in explaining their understanding and defending their answers?
- Do you want to learn effective ways of organizing a guided math program that will enable you to work smarter and not harder?
Many practical ideas, activities and games will be shared. You will get the opportunity to do the activities and learn how they can be adapted to suit the needs of your students. Time will also be spent exploring valuable resources and websites that are available to support you in implementing an effective mathematics program.
