This full day hands-on workshop will focus on the following topics:

Learn how to teach the multiplication facts in three days using a new “Patterning - All the Facts Sheet” developed this spring and not previously published.

This session will also on focus problem posing as a tool for teaching multidigit multiplication and division. Multiple strategies for “getting started and getting unstuck” as well as developing perseverance, and the ability to self-correct will be modeled. These strategies will then be connected to multidigit multiplication and division (estimation division, factoral division and long division for decimal fractions) and other operations in a context of Problem Solving and Problem Posing.

Connecting Decimals, Fractions, Percent and Probability to Struggling Learners

This session will explore a year- long project that uses and games, ten-frames and hundreds squares as a tool for learning the connections between decimals, fractions and percent. Connections to graphing will also be presented. Teachers will fill in a Fraction/decimal fraction and percentage student booklet which is available free on the website www.poweroften.ca
