This brief session is designed to provide an overview of Kagan Cooperative Learning Strategies. Dr. Kagan began a research program in 1968 to study the most effective cooperative learning strategies. He then created a series of structures that would maximize student interaction and learning.

These cooperative learning structures:

  • are engaging and take group work to a whole new level
  • facilitate classroom management
  • create a positive, safe atmosphere
  • help students get to know one another
  • deepen understanding and reinforce learning
  • allow students to learn together and build social skills
  • support diverse learners, and
  • are designed with the brain in mind.

Come get a taste of these incredible strategies, talk to educators who are actively using them in their schools, and learn more about the Kagan training sessions being offered here at the ERLC in August 2016 in partnership with Edmonton Catholic Schools.
