Jane Atkins has been a teacher for 39 years and had the opportunity to work with the Indigenous community in the Slave Lake area for 15 years. She also has a background in special education, FSL, and French Immersion. She has been working as the French Immersion and FNMI coordinator for Chinooks Edge School Division for the last 4 years. She believes that students learn by doing and she has developed many activities that involve learning through the Arts to meet curricular outcomes.

If you have had these questions as you are preparing your lessons, then consider this session. Throughout the day, you will participate in activities that you can take back and use in your classrooms. The activities include Language Arts, Math, Science and Social concepts, as well as an FNMI perspective. We will also be discussing the basics of building these types of activities, and looking at resources that are available to aid in understanding the FNMI perspectives.
