More English Language Learners (ELLs) are enrolling in our Alberta schools than ever before. During the morning, you will learn ways to welcome these students and their families to your school community and culturally responsive teaching practices. We will provide you with ways to conduct intake procedures and initial language proficiency assessments.

The afternoon will be an introduction to the Alberta K-12 ESL Proficiency Benchmarks including information on language acquisition and learning. We will use this information to practice and develop skills in “benchmarking” the English language proficiency of real students.

What others are saying:

"Many thanks for the fantastic opportunity! The process was easy, the presenter awesome, and the chance to network and ask questions in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment was priceless!"

"Thank you for a wonderful day of learning! You are very approachable and passionate about this topic. I appreciate how you modified parts of the day to meet our needs and you were clear and easy to understand."
