Siobhan Murphy is a teacher with Greater St. Albert Catholic Regional Division. She is on secondment at the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium, working primarily in the area of literacy. Her past teaching experience includes teaching at the elementary and junior high levels. Siobhan completed her Master's degree in education at the University of Alberta focusing her research project on assessment for learning best practices, in particular how rubrics can improve student writing.

K-3Come explore how to make writing come alive in your classroom using the Writing Workshop model. You will discover how using this manageable and effective approach allows for explicit instruction, guided practice, independent writing practice, as well as opportunities to confer with students. Using student writing exemplars and assessment for and of learning strategies, the presenter will demonstrate how assessment can support students in growing as writers. You will come away with practical assessment tools and strategies you can easily implement into your classroom.
