AllTeachers need to be given time to think about mathematical ideas. Every day, teachers make countless decisions that significantly impact student learning – decisions around the Math, Pedagogy and Students. Every day teachers ask
- “What should I focus on when teaching mathematics?
- How do I teach it? What do students really need to understand?
- How do I know if they really understand?”
During this session, we will work through the developmental phases all students pass through as they learn mathematics, diagnostic tasks you can use that accurately identify student progress and activities you can use to advance student learning.
During the session, you will be offered a preview of the Online Learning Guide that has been developed to provide ongoing support for teachers and the online “First Steps in Math” resources that are available to all.
