What are competencies? Why focus on competencies? What is the Ministerial Order on Student Learning? Is there an expectation from Alberta Education that I teach/support the development of competencies presented in the Ministerial Order on Student Learning? Yes!!! Are there some practical strategies I can use that have proven to be effective in competency development? What does the assessment of competencies look like? Is this yet another "add on" for teachers?

This full day session will provide you with answers to all the above questions and more! You will be engaged in/experience the power of the applying a competency focused approach to your own learning, which in turn you can use with your students!  Walk away with over 40+ strategies that you can use in any one of your classroom the very next day, that will result in high levels of student engagement and learning across the curriculum!

What others are saying:

"Thanks for a great day of professional learning! Our students are in for some exciting changes as we embrace the competencies"

"As with all the ERLC sessions I have had the privilege of attending as well as the presenters, Corrie was excellent in her presentation style. She capably managed our group who, for being small, were diverse in their background knowledge and experience with curriculum redesign."
