Trained in behavior analysis and special education, Dr. Shane Lynch uses a ‘positive behavior support' approach in his consultation with schools, community agencies, and families on how to improve children's social, communication, and behavioral skills. He is the Clinical Director of Positive Behavior Support, Inc.; an organization that develops interventions for individuals with challenging behaviors. As well, he is the Director of Southern Services for the Centre for Autism Services Alberta. He is one of the Curriculum Developers and Lead Facilitators of the Joint Action for Children Committee's Positive Behavior Support Training Initiative through the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. Additionally, he has published and lectured, locally and internationally, as well as taught many courses in the teacher-training program at the University of Alberta.

AllWhy won’t he do his work? Why do those students constantly fight with each other? Why does she hurt herself? The answer to these questions and more can be provided using a Positive Behavior Support (PBS) approach to classroom behavior support.
This presentation will provide
- a greater understanding into why students engage in problem behaviors,
- introduce you to a problem solving framework that will help to determine what new skills students need to learn, and
- to add to students’ toolboxes more appropriate behavioral and social skills through small changes in the students’ learning environments.
This presentation aims to offer you practical solutions for students’ common problematic behaviors.
