AllThe Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium (ERLC) has created multiple opportunities for you to visit schools during the 2015-2016 school year in Edmonton and surrounding areas who are transitioning their school library to a Learning Commons.
An initial session will be held with an overview of Learning Commons and an opportunity to explore some of the following questions:
- What is a Learning Commons and how might this innovative physical and/or virtual learning environment impact student learning?
- What intrigues you about reinventing your school library into a learning commons?
- What do you need to know in order to transform a school library into a Learning Commons?
- Who needs to be part of your Learning Commons Design team?
- How would you use the Standards of Practice for School Library Learning Commons in Canada to transform your school library?
There will be time to collaboratively explore these and other questions and to begin planning for the transformation of your school library to reflect a Learning Commons philosophy to support and enrich student learning. You will have time to begin to develop an implementation plan, knowing that successful implementation requires the coordinated, collaborative, and comprehensive efforts of education partners working together towards a shared vision of learning success for all students.
