CASS is pleased to join the First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Division of Alberta Education, and a number of partner organizations, to host the first annual First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Symposium.

The word ‘symposium’ is defined as a gathering at which there is free interchange of ideas. The planning committee is committed to hosting this symposium in order to provide an opportunity to learn from each other and develop action-oriented plans moving forward to support learning by First Nations, Métis and Inuit students in our province.

In addition to CASS members and Alberta Education representatives, participants on the symposium planning committee include representatives from First Nation Education Authorities from each of the three treaty areas in the province, Rupertsland Institute: Métis Centre of Excellence, Alberta Regional Professional Development Consortia through the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium, Alberta School Boards Association, Alberta School Councils Association, Alberta Teachers Association and Association of School Business Officials of Alberta.

The planning committee is identifying ways that the voice of First Nations, Métis and Inuit students can be heard at the symposium.

For breakout session descriptions, please refer to the pdf document on the top right side of this page.
