K-3, 4-6The staff at A. Blair McPherson have explored and refined their approach to project based learning over the past 7 years. Their journey has been filled with both successes and challenges, and has resulted in deep learning for both staff and students.
The staff are excited to share their journey with you! This exciting and engaging full day learning opportunity will begin with a small group of teachers presenting key information related to the “Share Fair” that you will be involved in during the afternoon:
- key concepts related to inquiry/project-based learning,
- what to expect during the Share Fair,
- resources and artifacts for teachers, and
- respond to your questions.
During the afternoon, each A. Blair McPherson staff will “share” one project with you and each other (as part of their professional learning day), using a “Share Fair” approach. You will have the opportunity to see over 30 tried and true projects!!!
Each teacher will “set up” their project in the school gym, and you will have the opportunity to view a range of projects, as well as engage in dialogue with each teacher about their project. Teachers will share their successes, challenges, how they planned for the projects, community involvement, assessment practices and much more!
Walk away with a deeper understanding of how a whole school approach to inquiry is scaffolded as students move through the grades, and how teachers support each other in honing their skills to support inquiry/project- based learning!
