Learning Opportunities

Let’s have some fun and group reflection as we explore foundational ideas in early numeracy that when left unattended leave conceptual chasms that can swallow a child’s motivation, confidence and capacity to learn. We will play games, read books, watch videos of children grappling with concepts and work with a host of visual tools to explore concepts more deeply. Leave with practical ideas you can use the next day.

The Teaching for FUNderstanding session is a journey through the landscape - unpacking the content, looking at children’s misconceptions and hurdles, and introducing games, investigations, manipulatives, models and instructional approaches that build children’s foundational understandings in numeracy in the primary grades.
