Kelly Watson is a French Immersion teacher with over 10 years experience with students of various ages, including Kindergarten, and grades 1, 3, 5 and 6. While obtaining her Master's Degree in Educational Studies at the University of Alberta, she focused her research on reading in French Immersion settings and has been a leader within her district in implementing CAFÉ and Daily 5 in her classroom. She is currently the literacy lead at her school and an active member of the French Immersion Literacy Specialist group.

K-3, 4-6Written expression in a second language is often a challenge for French Immersion students. This session aims to explore ways to help elementary French Immersion students engage in a process to strengthen their writing skills.
You will be offered a variety of strategies and activities to help students generate ideas, add pertinent details, develop sentence structure sense, use effective vocabulary, revise writing and produce authentic pieces of writing.
Time will also be provided for collaborative planning of writing projects that correspond to grade-appropriate outcomes using rubrics and creating exemplars.
