AllThe Ministerial Order of Student Learning (#001/2013), in effect since May 2013, states that “…the goal of this Student Learning Ministerial Order for an inclusive Kindergarten to Grade 12 education is to enable all students to achieve the following outcomes:…discover, develop and apply competencies across subject and discipline areas for learning…”.
This full day session will provide you with practical strategies related to discovering, developing and applying all 10 competencies in your classroom. We will begin with a brief overview of the competencies – to teach competencies you must know them well. From there, we will examine/discuss strategies related to:
- identifying competencies in our current Programs of Study
- creating exemplars for each competency
- creating a culture of inquiry/asking questions to support competency development
- providing students with feedback in relation to competencies
- encouraging students to self reflect on their growth in the use of competencies
Walk away with strategies that you can use in your classroom the very next day!
