Lynn Farrugia is an ESL teacher consultant with the Edmonton Public School Board. She is in her 29th year as an educator and has taught primarily in the elementary grades. Her passion for working with English Language Learners began with her time at an inner city school where over 75% of her students spoke a language other than English and most of those students were immigrants or refugees. One year she was the only person in the classroom who spoke only one language! In fact there were nine different languages spoken in that class.
Other areas of experience and interest include: early childhood education and multicultural children’s literature.
Lynn is one of the principal writers of: Working with Karen Immigrant Students: Teacher Resources published by the Alberta Teachers’ Association and the Canadian Multicultural Education Foundation. She is currently a Member-at -Large of the ATA ESL-Council.
