AllStudents can design dynamic multimedia feature articles and engaging presentations through a unit of study focused on independent research. We will look closely at the expectations for college writing across fields of study and craft a unit of mini-lessons that will maximize student investment as we teach ways to organize and present information effectively. This workshop will feature examples across content areas.
Student writing is filled with lessons. We should also see a deepening understanding of crafting writing with intention, flexibility, and confidence as the year progresses. As we assess the work of our writers, we can plan the next steps in teaching. We'll gather around writing samples to discuss what we see, what writers need, and what to teach next that might help move writers toward greater joy and facility with stories and ideas. We will consider the balance of student conferences and other formative measures, final writing products, and student portfolios in increasing our understanding of the needs of our students.
